Here’s another exhibit on the arrogance and stupidity of us humans, which I see everyday when I go to the office…

Skipping the 13th floor.

So far, I have yet to see a building wherein there is a floor labeled “13.” In all tall buildings that I have been to, floor number “12” is immediately succeeded by floor number “14.”

As though there’s something bad about labeling the floor that follows floor number “12” as floor number “13.”

Well, the thing is… You can label it anything. You can label it 14, you can label it 12.5, you can label it with a heart and fluttery eyes and a swastika, but the truth remains…

Floor number 12 is always, always followed by floor number 13. No matter how you label it, nothing can change that fact.

That’s the funny thing about us humans. We have the gall to think that our faith and biases and superstitions and our little rituals can change the course of nature, the laws of physics, the rules of math.

How silly. How arrogant.

You can believe whatever you want, but you can’t change the truth.
